Complete the Torch Clearance Policy and Application

  2. Authorization and Consent Form
  3. Screening Results
  4. Three Reference Forms
  5. Copy of Driver’s License,
  6. Birth Certificate or Passport
  7. Screening Fee ($25.00)
    * Note: Renewal required every 3 years with KPMI
    Check the Approved Torch Volunteers list on MyKairos.org to confirm approval status.

Yes, a volunteer cannot:

  1. Be an employee of the institution
  2. Be listed on a resident’s visitation list
  3. Have a sex offense in criminal history* Note: Every case is different and contingent upon KPMI approval.

Yes. A volunteer assignment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of:

  1. Volunteer Application
  2. Criminal and driving record check
  3. Fingerprinting
  4. Personal character references
  5. Face-to-face interview
  6. Agreement of confidentiality and release of liability
  7. Comprehensive new volunteer orientation
  8. Job-specific training
  9. Volunteer Training Manual

Note: Renewal required every 2 years with TJJD

  1. Team Training
  2. 2-1/2 Day Weekend
  3. Monthly Reunions (optional)
  4. Mentoring (optional)
There are six team meetings in preparation for each 2-1/2 day Weekend. They are typically 6 hours each and occur every other Saturday from 9 am – 3 pm leading up to the Weekend.
  1. One-to-one, following Torch curriculum
  2. Duration typically 1-4 months
  3. 1-1/2 hours per week
  4. Saturday morning, typically 8:30 – 10:00

The Kairos Inside program goal is to build a continuing Christian community inside the institution through Prayer and Share accountability groups, and monthly Reunions organized by Kairos Graduates and volunteers.
